Netherlands-based Hendrik Veder Group (HVG), global specialists in steel wire and fibre rope products and lifting services, has announced its acquisition of Aberdeen-based Universal Inspection UK Ltd.

With sites in five European countries, Hendrik Veder Group is a provider of lifting and inspection services and has one of the largest wire rope sling production and test facilities in Europe. It currently employs 130 staff.

Universal Inspection, which employs 17 staff at its Altens base, will support HVG’s move into additional markets, facilitating the firm’s UK and international growth strategy. As a result, HVG can offer UK customers the same wide range of combined products and services, economies of scale and additional technical support as it does across Europe.

Findlay Moir, HVG UK Managing Director, says, “We see this is a strategic acquisition that will allow us to further expand our business and deliver new products and services from the Group. It allows us to increase our European footprint, supporting our aim of becoming the market leader in lifting and inspection products and services. With the additional services provided by Universal Inspection, we will now also be able to further supply and support our clients on a global basis.”

The new Hendrik Veder Group facility will have a strong focus on supplying steel wire and fibre rope products and solutions, primarily to support the UKCS, maritime, subsea and renewables industries.

Moir adds, “All of HVG’s locations will work closely together with Aberdeen to ensure customers receive the most efficient service from each location; the Group production capacity and the sizable distribution network will contribute to fast and reliable deliveries.”

Existing Operations Manager Stewart Groves and the company’s UK Sales Manager Jamie Lynch will be based in Aberdeen, leading the business locally.
