Bureau Veritas (BV), a global provider of testing, inspection and certification services is focusing on a “Twintelligence” campaign with its digital tools and services at Offshore Europe.

Paul Shrieve, Vice President Offshore and Services at Bureau Veritas says, “Offshore Europe is the perfect platform to demonstrate our business focus and the importance we place on sustainable energy for the benefit of populations around the world.”

BV’s “Twintelligence” campaign describes the twinning of expertise with technology. Each day at the Bureau Veritas exhibition stand there will be a different technology focus including remote inspection technology and the VeristarAIM3D digital twin platform, powered by Dassault Systèmes and BV’s partnership with Microsoft’s Hololens technology.

BV’s commitment to artificial intelligence to support laboratory work is equally as strong. Working with Microsoft and its Azure Cloud platform, the company has developed an AI programme, known as “Charles” (named for one if its retired lab experts). Charles performs approximately 400,000 tests per year and has relieved experts from 20% of their repetitive analysis tasks. This gives them more time to focus on the most complex cases – particularly the 3% of cases identified as “critical”.

Charles contains approximately three million test results, equating to more than 15 years of testing and analysis data.

BV is also using AI to create digital twins of locations using historical test data to better understand exploration and production potential and to identify risks.

Shrieve adds, “With over 400 laboratories around the world, testing is a significant part of our business. AI opens new fields of possibilities in all industries and this will provide our employees and customers with significant benefits such as faster, more accurate analysis, enhanced efficiency and the creation of new services.”
