Semco Maritime Ltd. has appointed Brian Mercer new Managing Director in the UK. Semco Maritime strengthens its management in the UK with a view to generate growth and increase its market presence as the oil and gas industry is currently recovering after a 5-year long downturn.
Brian Mercer has taken up the position as Managing Director based on a diverse background with more than 30 years of experience covering oil and gas, aeronautical engineering, project and programme management, operations and maintenance management and asset integrity. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the Heriot-Watt University, a Master of Arts degree in defence studies from the King’s College London and is a chartered engineer.
“The oil and gas industry in the UK is seeking a more cost-effective approach to operations, projects and maintenance. This gives Semco Maritime a unique window of opportunity to expand our services with existing customers and open doors to new customer relationships as the industry continues to recover from the downturn. Like a breath of fresh air, we aim to be prominent in changing the industry approach,” says Mercer.
Since 2005, Brian has directed and managed a number of organisations and businesses in the oil and gas industry covering: Brownfield EPC projects and modifications; maintenance; asset integrity and engineering consultancies. His most recent position has been Managing Director of Theon Ltd.
“Based on Semco Maritime’s strong track record, the great success of the Culzean project and the strong customer base we already have, we are in great shape to offer a wide range of services to the UK oil and gas industry, while growing and developing our business,” Mercer continues.
