EnQuest and ORE Catapult join AFBE-UK Scotland

AFBE-UK Scotland, a social enterprise which promotes diversity and inclusion, has announced that EnQuest and the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult have signed up as corporate partners.

Formed in 2010, EnQuest is a production and development company, with operations in the UK North Sea and Malaysia

Established in 2013, ORE Catapult is the UK’s leading technology innovation and research centre for offshore renewable energy.

Aberdeen-based AFBE-UK Scotland encourages all young people, particularly those of black and minority ethnic (BME) origin, to consider a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The group, which has engaged with thousands of young people at its events across Aberdeen and Edinburgh, was established in 2011.

AFBE-UK Scotland is part of London-based AFBE-UK. Other corporate members include Norwell EDGE, OGUK, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and Spirit Energy.

In partnership with companies, AFBE-UK Scotland runs a series of online industry professional talks entitled Real Projects, and Transition, its career advisory programme. The Transition programme, which has been running for 8 years, provides students and new graduates with advice on securing a career in the engineering sector.

Throughout lockdown, AFBE-UK Scotland has hosted online sessions to teach young people (aged 9-15) about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) careers and computer coding. The sessions usually have around 70 attendees.

The next AFBE-UK Scotland event, which focuses on leadership, takes place online on Wednesday, October 7 (5 pm-6 pm).
