
Baker Hughes has announced that the Baker Hughes international rig count for October 2020 was down 46 rigs from the previous month to 656 with land rigs down 22 to 502, offshore rigs down 24 to 154.
International. Rig Count is down 474 rigs from last year’s count of 1,130, with land rigs down 386, offshore rigs down 88.
The average US Rig Count for October was 280 up 23 from last month’s count of 257 and down 568 year-over-year.
The average Canada Rig Count for October was 80 up 20 from last month’s count of 60 and down 65 year-over-year.
The Worldwide Rig Count for October was 1,016, down 3 from the 1,019 counted in September 2020, and down 1,107 from the 2,123 counted in October 2019.
The Baker Hughes rig counts comprise the total number of drilling rigs actively exploring for or developing oil or natural gas in the US, Canada and international markets. The company has issued the rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of the US and Canadian drilling activity. The monthly international rig count was initiated in 1975.
