International rig counts from Baker Hughes
Baker Hughes has issued rig counts as a service to the petroleum industry since 1944, when Hughes Tool Company began weekly counts of the US and Canadian drilling activity (photo: Baker Hughes)

Baker Hughes has announced that its International Rig Count is up 24 rigs from last month to 701 with land rigs up 29 to 536, offshore rigs down 5 to 165.

International Rig Count is down 384 rigs from last year’s count of 1,085, with land rigs down 304, offshore rigs down 80.

The average US Rig Count for February was 398 up 29 from last month’s count of 369 and down 393 year-over-year.

The average Canada Rig Count for February was 171 up 34 from last month’s count of 137 and down 78 year-over-year.

The Worldwide Rig Count for February was 1,270, up 87 from the 1,183 counted in January 2021, and down 855 from the 2,125 counted in February 2020.
