Global Compression Services, a solutions provider and one-stop shop for natural gas compressor equipment parts and services for operations across the globe, has opened a new 5,000 square foot facility in the heart of the Marcellus Shale in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Global Compression Services already operates from 11 locations servicing the top shale plays in the lower 48 US states. The new facility is part of the company’s planned expansion into the northeast (Marcellus and Utica) market.
The machine shop will be capable of repairing any compressor component. A FARO scanning tool will enable high quality repair of Ariel CP valves and a Mazak CNC lathe will perform machining of the valve. Two manual lathes will be capable of turning up to 22-inches in diameter. The facility will stock inventory for nearly all of Global Compression’s product offerings.
The facility’s team will be led by the machine shop foreman, Michael J. Fithian, who has more than 35 years of experience as a machinist with more than 20 years of experience in compressor repair and manufacture of new compressor parts.
Fithian says, “Through the new facility, our equipment and expertise combine to provide a new and improved standard for how equipment is serviced in the Marcellus Shale. We will be able to repair any compressor part that needs to be fixed and we will be strategically located to partner and expand with our customers across their entire region of operation. We expect to bring faster turnaround times and offer aftermarket products that provide improved availability and lower cost options, passing on significant improvements on run times and operations.”
