THREE60 Energy, an independent energy services company offering complete asset life cycle solutions, welcomed Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, Michael Matheson MSP, to its Aberdeen office on Monday, October 18, in a visit facilitated by OGUK.

Matheson was given a live demonstration of THREE60 Energy’s Scan2Fab digital technology, which can be adopted across the different energy industries – including engineering and construction projects in the oil and gas, renewables carbon capture and storage, and hydrogen sectors.

The cabinet secretary, who has cross-government responsibility for coordination of net zero policy, encompassing energy, transport and environmental protection, as well as delivery of COP26 in Glasgow next month, met THREE60 Energy as part of a wider visit to the region.

The Scan2Fab technology has revolutionised repair and integrity scopes with a truly digitised approach. It scans components of both onshore and offshore structures and creates 3D models, from which fabrication drawings and construction workpacks can be auto-generated. It allows materials to be procured in a matter of hours and drawings tailored to the fabricator’s needs, with construction worksheets prioritising what is important for construction crews instead of producing superfluous information.

The technology not only provides significant cost and schedule savings for customers but importantly removes the need for personnel mobilisation offshore and to sites – all which leads to reduced carbon emissions.

This technology is spearheadingTHREE60 Energy’s Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Commissioning (EPCC) international expansion and enabling the company to export home grown proprietary digital technology to other hubs across its respective geographies.

“It was a pleasure to host Mr Matheson at our Aberdeen office and as we gear up for COP26, it was an ideal opportunity to demonstrate our Scan2Fab technology at such a crucial time for the energy sector,” says THREE60 Energy Managing Director, Alasdair Smith. “We are proud to be part of Scotland’s energy services supply chain, which is diversifying and expanding, and as such, we are experiencing significant and sustained growth across the geographies in which we operate. Our highly skilled team, combined with our ability to provide a flexible service model at scale, means THREE60 Energy is ideally positioned to support customers as they look to embrace more environmentally friendly solutions which are also more cost efficient and safer.”

“THREE60 Energy is an innovative, pioneering company and our approach to digitalisation for the energy transition has helped us create a globally leading position. Our collaborative approach with the wider sector, including OGUK, NZTC SDI and our customers, is critical as we continue on the path towards achieving net zero,” adds Smith.

Michael Matheson MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport, says, “Scotland has an opportunity to become a global leader in the energy transition. The work being undertaken by THREE60 perfectly illustrates how we are at the forefront of creating and implementing world-leading solutions that can play a pivotal role in not just reducing our own emissions, but helping other countries decarbonise.”

“The growth of our world-class supply chain is creating jobs across the country within a variety of sectors, adding value to the economy and building significant opportunities for further exports. The Scan2Fab is a superb example of a technology being developed and adopted to support our net zero journey and it was great to be able to see and experience first-hand the leading solutions THREE60 Energy is creating,” Matheson continues.

THREE60 Energy provides subsurface, wells, EPCC and operations & maintenance services throughout the asset lifecycle with offices in Aberdeen, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Taipei, Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo, Brisbane and Jakarta.
