The EVERYWH2ERE project coordinated by RINA, the inspection, certification, and consulting engineering multinational, has been announced as the winner of the Best Innovation Award at the 2021 the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking European Hydrogen Week. The award recognises RINA’s effort in collaborative research, development and continuous learning in fuel cell and hydrogen (FCH) technologies accelerating the energy transition to a greener world.
Sustainability is one of the key pillars of the RINA business and its work includes several collaborative projects into renewables and new energies. This includes coordination of the EVERYWH2ERE project, a project funded under Horizon 2020 framework programme, which aims to develop and demonstrate the use of hydrogen in fuel cell equipped portable gensets for temporary power application to provide power for events, construction sites, movie sets etc.
Stefano Barberis, EVERYWH2ERE Project coordinator and Business Development Manager at RINA, says, “Temporary gensets are widely used in cities to provide power for temporary events, concerts, construction sites etc. These are mostly powered by diesel internal combustion engines, which are highly polluting. Fuel cell can be a reliable alternative providing zero noise and zero-emission energy and offer significant benefits to the environment and health of the local population.”
The EVERYWH2ERE project, which started in 2018, has already delivered two pre-industrial prototypes of hydrogen fuelled gensets (25 kW and 100 kW) and, by the end of the project in 2023, will realise a total of seven of such units (4×25 kW and 3×100 kW), providing zero emissions and zero noise solution. These will be tested at construction sites, music festivals and urban public events around the EU to showcasing their benefits and potential.
