A popular international business event which is renowned for nurturing links between the North East and Houston will celebrate 10 years of transatlantic links next week.

The milestone Aberdeen-Houston Gateway on 21-22 March will again be held in association with the Greater Houston Partnership and G-Tech Innovation Centre/Hampco, kicking off the 2022 season of Granite PR’s much-anticipated Gateway events.

As well as providing updates on key markets and how to do business in them, the tenth Aberdeen-Houston Gateway will hear about progress on the energy transition journey in both locations. It will also explore a rich seam of growth and innovation in the technology supply chain thanks to case studies presented by sector leaders including Add Energy and Enerquip.

After 2 years wholly online, the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway will celebrate its tenth birthday with a tentative step towards returning to its traditional format and a hybrid set-up will see a mix of online and face-to-face seminars plus one-to-one meetings adopted to optimise possibilities and connectivity for delegates and supporters.

Reflecting on the decade-long success of the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway, event creator Brett Jackson says, “During the past 10 years, all of us have seen our business landscape change due to many ups and downs. We have witnessed numerous trends and challenges including collaboration, digitalisation, transition, the pandemic, new technology and innovation – but through it all there remains a consistent need for us to come together, either face-to-face or digitally.”

“Running strong in the veins of this event are entrepreneurship, ambition and enterprise and no two places embody that more than Houston and Aberdeen,” Jackson continues.

Greater Houston Partnership Senior Director Europe, Middle East and Africa and event chair Jeffrey Blair adds, “It is once again my pleasure to participate in the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway. This year is a special one, of course, not only because of the tenth anniversary but also because of what I feel is a critical moment in both of our cities around the energy transition. For this reason, I have asked my colleague Jose Beserio to join me this year as we seek to increase our participation in the event, and I look forward to reconnecting with the people of Aberdeen in person after 3 years.”

The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway will be supported by Aberdeen City Council, Add Energy, Apex Chemicals, BoyarMiller, Enerquip, G-Tech Innovation Centre, Hampco, Invest Aberdeen, Jackson Walker LLP, Katy Area Economic Development Council, Motive Offshore, PKF Texas, Scottish Development International, Stronachs LLP, Texas Global Consulting, The British Consulate-General Houston, The Energy Industries Council, The Greater Houston Partnership, The Woodlands Economic Development Partnership, TradeMark Global Consultancy.
