The primary exportable resource from Central Asia that generates income for the countries in the region continues to be energy. The region states have sizable potential for producing thermal energy as well as being major gas producers. 88% of Uzbekistan’s generating capacity is thermal power plants, most of which use natural gas. In Kazakhstan this figure is 80%. Established capacity of thermal power plants and thermal power plants in the territory Republic of Uzbekistan in the period from 2022 to 2026 consumed 14 GW. USD 1.3 billion is the amount of investment in projects 2023-2027 for the construction of new and modernization of existing TPP systems in Kazakhstan.

The optimum combination of complementing regional energy sources and a generating structure may be found in Central Asia, which will aid in realising the advantages of regional cooperation in the energy sector. As a result, there will be a decrease in the investment costs associated with introducing new generating capacity and an improvement in energy efficiency.

Get more information about the potential of thermal power industry in Central Asia, as well as construction investment projects.
